When you first get your SIM card it may take it a little time to remember your phone number. Hence, you start calling your friends and relatives and ask them for the number you dialed from. Instead of doing this, you can simply dial what is known as USSD code from your phone to check your own mobile number. What is USSD code you ask?
Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) is a series of “Quick Codes” that mobile operators use to provide a series of quick automated services to users who dial specific codes relating to that service. For example, prepaid services, mobile content services, cellular data services, etc.
In particular, there exists a USSD dial code for checking one’s own mobile number. Thus, every mobile operator has a set of designated USSD codes for their specific service.
